This really isn’t so bad. Granted it still takes up most of my day to finish all my daily tasks for this challenge but I managed to finish my day by 5:00pm. Especially considering that my post for the site took quite a bit of research and actually took me about 2 hours to write, but it did end up being 798 words worth. Not bad at all.
This site also managed to get 2 clicks yesterday and one click was for $3.64. It made a total of $4.04. It is still sitting at position #7 so the fact that it even received 2 clicks is pretty good. Not too shabby!
Ezines is taking about 2 days to approve my articles. I wish it was a bit faster but I am not interested in paying for the premium membership, so I guess I shouldn’t complain and accept it for what it is.
I just got the notice from my mortgage company announcing that my payments will be increased by $400 more a month starting next month. I was totally stressed out yesterday but I kept telling myself “It’s gonna work out Sara. You’re successful and you’re gonna start pulling in more money this month”.
I had a very, very successful adsense day yesterday. In fact it is a new adsense record for me. I did $50.43!!!
I’ve noticed of my biggest earners yesterday, they were in positions 1-5. And a few sites that did just under a dollar were in positions #6-7. Only one site that received a decent click was not on page 1.
Last night I started playing around with some numbers to see what I could possibly be earning by the end of this year if I continue to work on converting one micro niche site into an authority site each month.
Let’s say that on average I am earning $33 a day. My goal for each authority site is to earn $20 a day per each authority site within 30 days.
By the end of May I could be making $33 + $20 = $53 a day
End of June: $53 + $20 = $73/day
End of July: $73 + $20 = $93/day
End of August: $93 + $20 = $113/day
End of September: $113 + $20 = $133/day
End of October: $133 + $20 = $153/day
End of November: $153 + $20 = $173/day
End of December: $173 + $20 = $193/day = $5404 per month
Holy crap! I could actually be hitting my goal of $5k a month by the end of this year! I am gonna do it. I don’t care if I don’t quite hit 5.4k a month by the end of the year but I am certainly going to do my best to reach that goal. That excites me beyond belief.
At that goal of $5k a month I will not need to have any roommates and I would have $1500 extra money at the end of the month to pay off my credit card bill. Then the next step would be to give my house a facelift on the inside. Totally redo my living room and kitchen. Get rid of all of the furniture that was purchased during my marriage so that I can start fresh and new! Ooooo I need to put that on my vision board!
Well, I am off to start my day with a cup of coffee and start my work while I listen to a video John released on his forum. I started to listen to it last night but it was already 1:30am and I was feeling too tired to pay attention fully.

Your workings look very achievable – I also believe you’re going to be successful and it’s great to keep your mind on what you’re going to do with that success too.

Congratulations on your $50 day! I ‘m sure there are more of those to come in the near future. Your hard work will undoubtedly soon start to show some very good results, and it is good to see how motivated you are feeling right now. I’m really looking forward to seeing where you are at the end of the year!

Ty Michelle. I am positive higher numbers are due! hehe
Holy cow, a $400/mo increase in your mortgage! Who would be prepared for that?!
Congrats on another good adsense day. I think your challenge is great and hopefully you see the rewards sooner than later.
Yea, no kidding. I knew I was coming to the end of my 5 years rate so I knew it was going to be increased but the jerks have already been raising it about $200 ever year. This is pretty significant though and I definitely feel the pressure.
Oh, you have an adjustable rate? Rates are fairly low, can you lock?

Grats on the $50 day. Maybe you can make this a routine where we have to keep congratulating you EVERY day. =)
I think your goal seems achievable and I am fairly confident you can get there if you stay focused. Either way, it’s fun to watch you continue to show what a little motivation and hard work can do.
Congrats again!

I would love nothing more than to have you congratulate me every day Matthew! That would just be so much fun to have to write the words “new adsense record today” every day!
Sara,
Congrats on the 50 plus day . Great. Is the goal for the authority site that it will be interior pages that do well on top of the main page? I know we both have niche blogs that have been duds so I was wondering how this model for authority sites is different. Is the keyword research less competitive for each internal page? I know you can do it.
Deb
The main difference between turning a micro niche site into an authority site versus The Niche Blogger blogs is that with the micro niche sites, if doing proper keyword research and judging of competition; I am able to rank my main keyword at a much faster pace then it was possible using the recommendations for competition and keyword research outlined in TNB.
As far as the inner pages are concerned, I would say that since I am using not only article marketing with ezines for the inner pages but also incorporating Blog Blueprint and SEOLinkvine, my inner pages should also rank fairly high in just a few weeks.
Although I am not checking out my SOC for inner pages since I am targeting keywords that receive at least 500-1,500 monthly searches. I have found there rarely is competition with these lower numbers because they are not usually numbers another marketer would bother going after unless the CPC was significantly high.
I do only go after keywords for my inner pages that also have decent CPC. Nothing less then $0.50 CPC is deal for these inner pages.
Basically converting a micro site into an authority site should result in higher over all earnings sitewide since the inner pages should rank fairly easy and draw in additional traffic and additional clicks.
Whew…did I confuse you?
Sara,
You are truly an inspiration!
When will you publish your ebook?
We can all use some help, at least I can.
Good luck and much success
I don’t think I could even add any more information for an ebook that what John has already laid out in his ebook.
I totally understand where you are coming from. If it was not for Mike talking up a storm about John’s eBook, I am pretty certain I would only be earning about $50-100 a month tops right now.
Just before john’s book I was all gung ho on making it big with Hubpages. Pfft…119 hubs later and I am lucky to be earning $1 a day from my hubs put together.
John led the way for me to realize that earning with Adsense was not only a possibility but quickly became a reality. I cannot even describe how excited I was and still get when I would see a new site ranking on page 1 in less than a week after building it. It’s even more exciting to see that same site instantly start earning clicks when in previous niche blog adventures it would take my sites 2-3 weeks before they would get their first $0.10 click.
Sara, have you tried linking your hubs together? I have heard alot of how interlinking on hubs can help. I realize this is not your focus, but since you have the content there you might be able to boost it with a day or two of work.
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..It’s Easy to Get Distracted =-.
Yes, I was interlocking at the time I built them. By the way, they did $3.25 yesterday. lol Still nothing to brag home about. With 119 hubs, I could have easily used that content on 10 different sites and probably be making at least $10-15 a day with them instead of sporadic $1-3 days.
Sounds like a plan. And congrats on your new milestone!
Like to ask you a couple questions if you don’t mind. Are the 200 plus backlinks shown in YSE? Can you share how did you go about building the 200 plus backlinks?
I remember you mentioned about Seolink Dominator in a few post before, I am rather interested in adding it to my arsenal, when do you normally throw in profile links?
Cheers
Tinman
.-= Tinman´s last blog ..Day 41 – Keeping My Sites Rank And Stay There =-.
HI Tinman,
Since this was one of my latest sites I built, I never actually got around to running press releases for it, any sort of article marketing or forum profiles.
Currently YSE is showing the site has 235 back links. Of those, I would say that 90% of them are from blog commenting and then 10% are coming from a link exchange used with Traffic Kahuna.
I do like forum profile back links and I do think they are very powerful. I don’t know if I will be using forum profile back links for this authority site in particular only because that would add on more work to my daily tasks and frankly, I am afraid if I add just 1 more step in, it might discourage me from finishing my outlined tasks already.
But i have been using Terry Kyle’s packets on my niche blog that was badly sandboxed several months ago and I have seen it move consistently and has finally settled in position #5 for about 2 weeks now. That’s good considering it was on page 4 for 4 months without budging.
I do recommend that if you decide to go the forum profile link route that you also invest in a profile indexer or back link booster because otherwise you won’t see those links show up for months. I have yet to get a booster myself and right now it can take 4 weeks or longer to see the back links show up.
Thanks Sara
Yeh, my only concern is also being sandboxed. I tried profile links before and the site went missing for 2 months but came back rather strong. Thanks for your suggestions.
.-= Tinman´s last blog ..Day 42 – Plans For Ranking My Four Words Domain Site =-.
Hi Sara,
I am still finding my way around your site, but I was curious about the micro niche sites that you plan on turning into to authority sites are they:
*Small search terms-like 3k a month or so
*Few pages, like the normal 5-10 posts/pages
I am just curious because if they are small sites and they have the criteria listed above-will it make that much of a difference to make them into authority sites, well except maybe to keep the Big G out of your hair and I guess you could add more than ads3nse.
I read your post about the jerk you went out with-that sucks. I have always believed everyone has their one special person–oh and BTW I got a date night by showing my Husband your blog post!!
.-= Kelly´s last blog ..Unique Article Wizard or Blog Blueprint =-.
This particular site I am working on for the challenge receives 5.4k exact monthly searches. It had 5 pages of content (not including the privacy policy, about and contact pages).
The main thing about turning a micro site into an authority site is for 3 reasons only:
1.) google will see that my site is aiding the visitor in some way and therefore is beneficial to have listed
2.) Once the site is ranking well google tends to let the inner pages on the domain get crawled, indexed and rank faster
3.) more pages = more visitors = more $
I guess a way to see the big picture is this. Let’s say my site’s keyword gets 5,400 visitors a month but that I only receive 50 unique visitors to the home page per day.
To earn about $20 a day you need to have about 1,000 unique visitors. I cannot instantly go from 50 visitors per day to 1,000 per day all from the same keyword, but by building inner pages you start targeting additional long tail keywords to drive in more traffic. So then your site can start to look like this:
main page = 50uvs
2nd page = 10 uvs
3rd page = 8 uvs
4th page =15 uvs
5th page = 20 uvs
6th page = 12 uvs
7th page = 18 uvs
8th page = 30 uvs
9th page = 5 uvs
10th page = 20 uvs
So you see how they can add up? if you had 30 pages of content and each page brought in 10 unique visitors a day that would be 300 uniques a day. Now that is not the 1,000 unique visitors we need in order to earn about $20 a day but this is not the exact formula since bids on ads change daily. But the more pages you have on a site means the more visitors and that is going to increase your income.
hey congrats on getting that date night with your hubby! I believe in karma, so my humiliation just got you some love points, which later on Cupid will be ready to return the favor and pass me some love!
No Humiliation-my Husband is a great guy and even called that guy a jerk-I bet you this is the way that most people on this blog view that guy as.
.-= Kelly´s last blog ..My Goals for the Future =-.
Congrats on the new Adsense record! Have you thought about selling some of the niche blogs you’ve developed that you don’t plan to build into authority sites? I was looking at thenicheblogger.com today and there were some people there selling sites on flippa for $250 or so. They were basic sites monetized with both Adsense and Clickbank. That would give you another blog-related revenue stream. Just a thought. I very much like the challenge approach you take too
Sandy
hi sandy,
Nah I haven’t thought about selling any sites yet. Its possible I will as I develop a stronger income. It sure would be a lot easier to focus on fewer sites.
Just a note after reading the comments – I have found inner pages more difficult to rank than a homepage. I don’t know why that is, maybe it’s just me (very likely) but I will be interested to see what happens here.
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..It’s Easy to Get Distracted =-.
I don’t know why this is, other than the inner keywords were better than the main domain name, but I’ve a couple of sites where I’m ranked higher and get more searches for an inner KW than the main domain.
In those cases, it’s because the inner KW’s weren’t available to purchase. I’m ranked on page 1 now for the main KW on this particular site of mine, but was ranking and still rank really high for the inner pages.
.-= JamestheJust on Elance´s last blog ..SEOLinkVine or Unique Article Wizard? **Important Update** =-.
That’s true, I’ve had that happen also. I think it’s when I try to rank inner KWs that aren’t that high that it is difficult. I also had an inner page that was page 1 after I posted but once I started building links to push it up it fell and never returned
Yeah, there is no rhyme or reason in my experience. But then I am not a genius.
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..It’s Easy to Get Distracted =-.
I’ve also had success with inner pages. On one site my main keyword only had 2.9k monthly searches and for kicks I made an inner page with a ridiculous amount of competition that got 18,000 monthly searches. One day as I was checking up on the site and the inner pages, I had noticed my main keyword was only ranking #7 but for some reason my inner page that gets 18k monthly was sitting at #9. So I switched focus off my main keyword and just started focusing on that one inner page. That inner page is now sitting at #7 and receives at least 1 click a day. Since then my main keyword has hit #4 but I still work on that inner page just because the monthly searches are so high.
Dang. It seems like whenever I backlink a promising inner page it falls back in the rankings. Hmmm.
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..It’s Easy to Get Distracted =-.
Good luck in achieving your goals! I commend you for doing what you are doing and sticking to it. You’ll get there…just keep up the good work!
