Whew I did it! 1 entire week of not getting distracted and skipping around back linking this site or that site or writing content for that other site and oh yea need to do keyword research for that other site. It was rather refreshing to be in the zone of one niche only. To eat, breathe and sleep with one niche sure makes it a heck of a lot easier to spit out ezine articles for.
The only problem is that ezines does not approve articles over the weekend. Phooey! Maybe they do for platinum members but surely they do not for us non-paying members. Now, because I have 3 articles sitting in my queue awaiting approval, it sorta prevents me from doing my BB posts and my SEOLV submissions. Sure, i can delay my submissions for SEOLV to post a few days from now but what if ezines takes like 3-4 days to approve my articles? Even though my spins are 50-52% unique, its better to be safe than sorry when it comes to ezines. So just to be on the safe side, those back linking efforts are on hold until these pending articles are approved.
I still managed to do my 1 post for each day and 1 article written for the day as well.
The challenge site didn’t earn any clicks yesterday…again. I really hope things improve because after doing this another week or so, a lack of earning will tempt me to abandon ship. It had 9 UVs and 0 clicks.
I recently read another post by John yesterday where he once again mentioned just forgetting all the back linking products out there and just stick with article marketing. Its awfully tempting to want to get rid of some monthly memberships but for now, I am still having good success with BB. The jury is still out on SEOLV but so far it seems to be a bit better than UAW.
Oh, I forgot to mention my earnings yesterday. $39.57. Awww, so damn close to another $40 day! My highest earning xfactor site for the day did $7.51.
Oh and I forgot to mention that I got invited to join the YouTube partnership for my youtube channel. Although I think its fantastic to be earning even more money and I am totally honored that I have been chosen; at the same time I fear entering this avenue. You know and I know about the douchebag competitors out there that can do click fraud to their competition. I do not know if click fraud still happens on YouTube and since my adsense account for YouTube would be tied into my account I use for my micro niche sites, this scares the crap outta me. I don’t know which direction to go.

Congratulations on being invited to join the YouTube partnership! Have you set up a LLC or similar business corp yet? Perhaps you can set up a separate business account for some of your AdSense sites to protect them? I believe multiple AdSense accounts are allowed, if they are business accounts (not absolutely sure about this, though). It may be a good idea anyway, given the number of sites you have, to spread out your holdings a bit…?
.-= Michelle´s last blog ..Evaluating My AdSense Sites =-.
Nope, I have not set up a second account as an LLC. I just haven’t looked into it yet but will definitely consider it down the road. I’m still not afraid about losing my adsense account. Maybe I am naive in this thinking but I just don’t feel I have anything to be concerned about. I personally know of a few people that have a few accounts to sorta safeguard their earnings but I just think that doing that is pretty risky too. The minute you accidentally log into one of your accounts from the same IP…whoops they will catch ya! I’d just rather abide by the rules but the LLC thing is definitely an option.
Hi Sara, very well done on keeping your focus! Its tough when there are so many distractions!
Are you one of those who plumped for LinkVana when BB was having its issues? Obviously you are using SEOLinkvine and seemingly seeing some good things happening there, which is good to know about. How about LV, or you think its too steep to justify going down this road?
I received an email re LV this morning which reminded me exactly why I packed up using it some 15 months ago, and its kinda hit home again now. $147 a month (I took Mannie’s link on XFactor so getting it for $120/month) is a lot to pay to have to wait 6 months to see if its working or not. This has got me concerned. I wrote up a brief on my own blog about it, but at the same time stressed that as yet I am unable to vouch for results.
As you say, in some ways its tempting to go down the road of hand submissions to everywhere and dump the large monthly costs of having a number of different subscriptions running. For now I have to keep up about 5 a month, but I think in few weeks time I’m gonna be having a clear out and getting down to skin and bones where monthlies are concerned.
Let me know your thoughts about this Sara, thanks!
Regards and best wishes!
Joseph
Hi Joseph,
Nope, I never signed up for LV. I did see Mannie’s affiliate deal but since I had just ended my TK membership, I didn’t want to pick up another $147 month subscription. I also read about John’s experience with LV (not sure if you read or heard about that. I believe he discussed it on his first new audio video last week) but he said that he has seen a decline in rankings on his sites that were using LV. So, if I was tempted to try it, John’s opinion has swayed me not to.
However some other members on the forum have noticed some ranking increases with it and they love how they are not limited like they are with BB.
Sara, what is your experience with UAW, and what advantages have you found with SEOLV?
UAW is great for getting short-term links. By short-term I mean that the links will show up 1-2 months after submission (in YSE) and once they show up in YSE they will stick around for maybe 3-6 months or so, then they just drop off the face of the earth since many of your articles get posted to autoblogs that are not network controlled (UAW does not own the blogs). The owners of these autoblogs dump them after a year when the sites are not earning any money. They do not renew their domains so bye-be links. The only long-term links that will stick from UAW submissions are the articles that get submitted to article directories (which this is a small handful.) I just think you are better off using your own article submitter to get your articles published to article directories rather than relying on UAW.
Now from what I have seen SEOLV is very similar to UAW only they are not submitting your articles to article directories. I have found some back links from my article submissions showing up in YSE as quickly as 7 days. granted they are on PR- blogs so far but they are showing up faster than UAW. Now the real test will be to see how long these links last.
I wouldn’t be scared about click bombing on Youtube. It’s one thing if it’s on your own site, but this is 100% on Google’s servers. You have absolutely no control over who access the website. It’s entirely on Google to filter bot/click bomb clicks. I would say it’s safer than anything you can do on your own sites. I’ve never heard of anyone getting canned because of their Youtube account. The only thing I would imagine that could lead to termination is questionable video content. You’re entirely safe, go for it! Not everyone gets an invitation.
Oh good points Jackson. I didn’t even think about YouTube having to worry about the clickbombing and not me. I guess it would be no different than my hubpages getting clickbombed since I am not in control of the site’s server.
Well done for completing the first week of your challenge! Seems like you’re doing really well. I must admit all this stuff about the different link building systems does go over my head. Seems like there are new and better systems coming out all the time and I just have no idea what to use. So for now I’m using UAW and article marketing. Maybe it’s cheeky to ask but perhaps one day you could list out the different programs you’ve tried in one post?? Only if you have time of course!!

That’s a great idea Ruth! With so many monthly memberships and products I have tried over the year for back linking, I think it would be a nice way to condense them all into one place for others to read about.
That would definitely get a trackback from me – I keep coming here and to Matthew’s blog at matthewdc dot com for the updates on how these services work.
What I love about John’s style is that it isn’t broken – it’s just time consuming (no offense to John: much respect to you).

Ok Ruth, here’s my post about the various back link building systems I have tried.
I’m interested in hearing more about your YouTube experiences. How many videos do you have up? How many views do you get? Why do you think you got an invitation?
.-= Richard @ Debt Assistance Guru´s last blog ..How To Pay Off Consumer Debt =-.
I have 79 videos. Holy crap I didn’t even realize how many I had until I posted this. lol My most popular video has something like 15,000 views and frankly I think it gets the most views because of the still picture shows my legs. haha! ya perverts! I have over 500 subscribers which is not much but they are loyal.
Sweet in Adsense earnings, Sara! And I tweeted you on Twitter under #TheAvgGenius about YouTube – it’s hard to put anything meaningful in those Tweets.
I think you should protect your assets as best you can, any JV is a risk, but sounds really interesting.
I did want to point out that you mentioned the Platinum membership status on EZA – I’m not sure how they determine that, but it’s free – I don’t pay a cent since they ask $99/month for premium status, and I don’t need another expense.
In any event, just wanted to clarify that point. There’s no controlling who gets Platinum and who doesn’t, but at PR6, it’s still worth it, imho. And I *sure hope* that didn’t come off as bragging – not my style. I don’t think it is…I’ll ask my wife.
.-= JamestheJust on Elance´s last blog ..Magic Article Rewriter Puts UAW And SEOLV On Steroids =-.
Sorry, that was my mistake. I meant premium. I have a platinum membership. I cannot justify spending $97 a month just to get an article approved within 24 hours. For now I can deal with the 1-2 day approvals.
James, have you thought about trying to back linking your authors to pass on some link juice?
Do you mean doing what Joseph Archibald had suggested? Actually, yep. It’s in my plan. I just have this Mt. Everest project on Elance and family ties keep vying for my attn – but believe me, when Joseph shared that a lightbulb went off.
I’m planning on hitting my web 2.0 properties (Squidoo, and articles) with all I’ve got: SEOLV and UAW runs, set to 50/day drip feed, and will need to actually write more EZA’s for that.
You know, ArticlesBase articles can have videos in them – and they offer 3 links in the resource box. If you’re doing vids…you might want to hit that up.
3 links + video = good times I imagine.

Couldn’t agree more with you about what John said. With few hundreds dollar spend on those programs monthly, isn’t it nice just having one that is free and works?
And congrats to your good Adsense day after a couple of down days. And do persevere on your challenge, its only three weeks more to go and I believe the knowledge and experience you gain will be worthwhile the effort.
Cheers
Tinman

Hi Tinman, I think you were refering to me when you said you could not agree more re dumping the high monthly outgoings for SEO and IM tools?
Yes, I’m slowly but surely heading down the route of “natural” when it comes to site popularity (not trying to focus quite so much on the “falseity” of it all) , albeit right now I am in the thick of all forms of products with monthly subscription fees, simply in the hope of attaining quality backlinks.
Don’t you just start to get the notion that a lot of these products simply don’t cut it?
And its for this reason that I value blogs like Sara’s – she cuts through the fluff and gets down to the nittly gritty by providing us her stats. I value stats from Sara’s totally impartial point of view, much, much more than I do Dr Noel Swanson – the UAW product creator for example (do excuse me Dr Noel, but I do think you go over the top when you hard sell us Unique Article Wizard….. – JamesTheJust on Elance has done a great post on his blog about this particular point).
Anyhow, there’s my two-tupence-worth, for what it is actually worth. Each to their own after-all.
Best wishes to everyone!
Regards
Joseph

Joseph -
Thanks for the kudos. I absolutely hate the fact that I’m “in sales” simply because of the hyped-up shtick…thousands of backlinks my eye! But can’t argue against the $10k+ in sales (resulting in about $1k in commissions) from my runs to my landing page.
Now I just need more landing pages, more web 2.0 properties to link to, oh – and Marty’s Delorean…I need more time.
.-= JamestheJust on Elance´s last blog ..3 Tips To Succeed In Elance Or Any Freelancing Site =-.
John knows what’s he’s doing and I just need to buck up and listen to his sound advice. I really hate how stubborn i can be sometimes. lol
Yea, you’re right. I won’t abandon ship on it. I’ll stick it out through the 30 days.
Just found your site and so glad I did. These are the exact things I’m working on and seeing your success is motivation for me. Yes $40.00 a day is good work. I’m luck to get $2.00 but then again I only have one site at the moment where I’m using adsense.
.-= Mike Roosa´s last blog ..Forum Marketing Ninja Tip #5 – Post Early, Post Often =-.
Hi Mike,
I think that 1 site at $2 a day is pretty good success. 15 sites like that and you’ll be at $30 days in no time. Then if you choose to build those out, you could be pulling in a nice income.
