5 days later and I am still seeing improvement on site #31. If you remember, the site was badly affected after the Mayday update and went from being #4 to lost in the SERPs. Now because my test is not pure, i.e. isolating only doing pure profile linking; pure article marketing or only switching over from HTML to using Thesis Theme for WordPress, I can’t say for certain which of those had the most affect on the site. I do know the steps I took to get it moving though.
Here is what I have done so far:
- On June 29th I wrote and submitted two ezine articles. Both were approved a day later and I pinged them using Book Marking Demon.
- With my site still lost in the SERPs, On July 6th I wrote 2 more articles and submitted them to Ezines. Once approved I pinged them again with BMD and then I changed the title and resubmitted to 3 other article directories.
- With still no changes in the SERPS, I purchased the Sick Profile Maker on July 16th and used this site as my first test site using the software. Over the next 2 days I submitted set up site #31 to register on about 100 forums and on July 23rd I noticed that my site went from not being found in the SERPs to sitting at #50. It showed 4 fresh profile links in YSE.
- On July 19th I went ahead and used The Ultimate Keyword Theme Extractor to find some more juicy LSI words that I could use to add a quick 250 word paragraph onto my main page. I also wrote an additional page of content.
- On July 20th, I wrote another article for ezines to back link my new page of content and send another link to the main page and pinged it on the 21st.
- On July 23rd I decided to switch the site over from HTML to now running The Thesis Theme for WordPress. On July 24th it was ranking at #42. It had also gained 2 new profile backlinks showing up in YSE.
- Today its at #39 and has a total of 8 profile backlinks so it gained another 2 since July 23rd.
So was it just a matter of getting 5 new ezine articles to the site, or the profile links, the new page of content, the new added paragraph with LSI words or a more SEO optimized layout? I don’t know. All I know is that the action steps I took have caused some movement in an upward trend.
On Sunday I converted another site over to Thesis which is site #46 and that site was also lost in the abyss. This site will be a more pure test because I have not done anything to the site since mayday affected it.
Yesterday, I ended up converting another site (site #44) over to using the Thesis Theme. This site did have 4 new ezine articles submitted on July 7th but there was no sign of it in the SERPs as of yesterday (July 26th.)
Today, I plan on converting my site that Backlinks Philippines worked on in June for me. It seems to have settled at #14. This will also be a pure test because there has been nothing else done to the site since John’s team worked on it in the beginning of June.
Over the next few days I will be converting some sites over to using Thesis and for some of my newer sites that are 4-5 months old that are running on wordpress now, I will be using Sick on them. It seems that all of those newer micro niche sites that used Blog Blueprint as its main source for backlinks, have lost every single backlink from the blogs in that network. So there was $201.00 down the drain. My guess is that Google discovered the network and deindexed all or the majority of the blogs. I am done with those types of services and won’t be using them or the like in the future. For all the bad-mouthing I have done regarding UAW and the longevity of backlinks, at least with UAW you can come out a year later with a few backlinks still in existence. It is quite a bitter pill to swallow knowing you fork out $200 only to have all the links vanish in less than 4 months time.
Adsense is still up and down in earnings. The past few days it has been pretty low with my lowest day on Saturday at $9.94 (ouchie) and with Sunday’s high of $24.60.
On another note, I am on day 16 of P90X. I have yet to miss a workout or cheat on my diet. Goooo me! Bad news is I gained an inch in my hips. What the heck is up with that?! I am not sure how much I have lost just yet since I hid my scale up in my bedroom closet to eliminate unnecessary stress and from discouraging me.
Today is a busy day. I need to start my P90X workout right now followed by a chiropractor appointment (unrelated to doing P90X) and then my friend just got me some VOIP box that allows you to basically talk on the phone for dirt cheap. You pay $40 for some box and then a yearly fee of $20 for a phone number and then you can talk to anyone at from any distance for free. More about this later when I understand it more. He is coming over this afternoon to install it and show me how it works. I am excited about it. It will save on my cell phone minutes since we do not use a home phone only cell phones.

Great post on your steps fpr recovery. Do you have a guide, website that tells you how to convert the website from html to wordpress – I have a few I’d like to change. Thanks
John
This is a great guide for doing so.

I will don’t understand how to use hooks in Thesis. I tried it once and my site went down, yikes. Ever since I never tried again, i’m all barebones.
Do you think my site could be monetized better?
My site is http://www.debtfreehispanic.com
I am still sold on the idea of placing the big block ad above the fold and on the left hand side either before or within the beginning content since that is where the eye will wander first and where the eye wanders so does the mouse ready to click.
Hey, just wanted to avoid getting back to work for a second – arms are burning and carpal tunnel is mocking me – and to say: nice site!
Pop up and everythang. Looks good, man.
(what do you mean this ain’t my blog?)

Looks good Fabian! Anyone else have Thesis examples they can share?
Sara, how easy is Thesis to modify? I have always loved the look of that theme and was close to buying at one point but then I heard some complaints about how difficult it is to modify. Was wondering how you felt.
Way to go on the exercise and diet! Don’t feel too bad about blog blueprint, the short-term rankings still may have brought in income for a time. Seems like more and more of these networks are getting found or something, kinda stinks.
Ya know, I have had good luck recently posted articles to Web 2.0s. You may want to try rewriting your Ezines and submitting elsewhere.

WHAT are you talking about?? Too much Red Bull?
Or are you gonna turn into a commercial “…this is your brain after too much spinning, any questions?”

James, you make me smile. You must amuse the pants off your wife everyday.
I am not all that savy with website design. Although I might bluff that I am, surely I am not. I know HTML and I only know a few things involving CSS.
To modify my theme, I just googled how to install Adsense using Thesis Themes, or how to make my header clickable etc. I took a snippet of info here and a snippet there and got it just so.
Also the Open Hook plug-in is a huge brain saver.
Here is the layout for my themes only they look prettier but I had to hide some of the graphic details so i don’t give away my sites. lol
My Thesis Theme.
Thanks for the peek. Looks good. I love how clean that theme is, maybe one day I’ll get it.

Nice design on your site, I need to add the adsense code above the fold and to the left more.
Well for hooks:
Plugin thesis open hooks can be helpful for those who doesn’t like coding much:

Official Thesis hooks guide: http://diythemes.com/thesis/rtfm/customizing-with-hooks/

And of course, there is always a forum where you can turn for help.
Good luck
Thanks, Patel! (( not that I even own Thesis, but those were big helps ))

Profile links definitely work – but rather than buy one of these services (which are vulnerable to being found out), the best way to get profile links is to spy on your competition, using Market Samurai (or Yahoo site explorer). That way you pick up forums where the profiles have actually been indexed, and by scoping out competition in a wide variety of niches, you get a wide variety of profile links.
That means that if G say decided to hire backlinks Phillipines to find out where they were placing their links, and then deindexed their network, you would still be OK as your links would have come from places not in their network.
It’s a bit of extra work, but it keeps you safe.
Teatree recently posted..Experiment
what if the person you copied had used backlinks philippines?
Anyway, all the services do is automate profile link building – I have a list of 10,000 that I use, so if google somehow “deindexed” every profile link on those 10,000 forums, it would affect every profile linker, now me. Anyway, that would never happen…
Dan – I think you’re on the right track with diversification. Kudos.
Sara – spot on! Nice jumps. I’ve used UAW/AR to great success, I think because the diverse IPs and user-controlled sites.
Dunno.
But you should spin your articles (a thought) or at least the first/last Paragraphs, titles, and then submit them to high PR sites besides EZA:
Buzzle PR6 (one in-text link only, but can be direct affiliate)
Suite101 PR7 (hard to get in, you shouldn’t have a problem – they want objective vs. subjective content, like a reporter or college-level paper)
IdeaMarketers (PR5-6, depending on the day)
GoArts (Quick indexing and they allow 2 in – text links, with one being a direct aff link)
ArticlesBase (3 links I think – PR5? – and these get syndicated for some reason more than others)
Just some thoughts – might as well leverage all that, and you don’t need software for it but maybe a spinner, which you have. If you use Buzzle, you have to start there, and use the same username as your EZA so EZA will approve – Buzzle is harder on that.

Hey James, not sure if you have noticed with your backlinks, but GoArticles hasn’t been showing up in my backlinks anymore. In fact, I lost all of my initial GoArticle backlinks from last November/December when i first started off my Xfactor empire. My ezines still show but no GoArticles so I no longer submit to them.
I recently discovered Ideamarketers and like them. I’ll definitely have to look into more directories. Thanks for that.
That ‘splains it. I was wondering why so many fell off – hmm….
Now it would only be beneficial if the article would rank high to bring in traffic.

I will be really interested in your tests as I’ve been contemplating purchasing Thesis recently. However, my guess is still favoring the profile links, especially based on what I’ve been seeing since starting to use Sick. I’m somewhat shocked about you having all your blog blueprint posts disappear as I still see tons of BBP in both YSE and Google webmaster for my sites, and when I do a site: search for those blogs they still show as indexed in Google. Has anyone else posted the same problems with BBP? I’m still seeing real good results with BBP, but it would be good to know how many blogs in the network have actually deindexed – and when!

Is there anyone using Clickbump for more than AdSense? Advise against it or…?
JamestheJust on Elance recently posted..Free SEO Download – Save 999 Get SEO PowerSuite FREE
I like the Clickbump for adsense but because it is designed to display only the recent posts it doesn’t really give you the freedom to display specific posts by categories or post tag which is why I like Thesis. I like to be able to list posts according to a category. Thesis has some built in widgets that let you display any number of posts according to category, post tags or recent posts. If you get the Clickbump theme you will also need to install the All-in-One SEO plug-in to get the most bang for SEO purposes.
Yes, that’s an issue I’ve found with The Average Genius, I wanted more of a silo by category rather than a jumble.
Makes sense. I think this is where HTML sites or Artisteer come in…OR Thesis!

Well one thing myself and several members on John’s forum noticed right away with this service was that our posts were getting posted to the same blogs. So like one blog would have 2 of my spun posts posted one right after the other. Even though they were two different spun versions with different titles, if a human reviewer checked out some of those blogs they would know the posts were being spun and could have very well been deindexed.
Sara- Can you hold off changing the Thesis theme of the site that we are working on? We are still adding new profile links to your site directly but slowed it significantly to minimize the Google dancing. However we are refocusing our efforts right now to boosting your existing links and I am seeing rankings improvements already.
We decided to refocus our effort to boosting your existing links so as to minimize the “Google Dancing” of your site.
I am however positive that changing the your theme to Thesis will help a bit though not sure up to what degree. So it would helps us all if you can isolate the effects of changing the theme by choosing another site of yours which there is nothing else going on.
Thank you..
John D.
Ok John. I’ll hold off. Thanks for keeping tabs on me and my site.
Does anyone have a comparison or opinion for “bang for buck” between Sick and Socialbookmarking-101? Thanks
John
You are pretty limited at what sort of sites you can use with Socialbookmarking 101. So my guess is that the majority of their back links are not from profile link building but socialbookmarking networks and pligg sites such as Digg, Delicious, Stumbleupon and then probably a gazillion socialbookmarking sites created by the owners. But back to being limited on what types of sites you can use with the service, you cannot submit review sites of affiliate products (ouch), squidoo lenses, 3rd party sites, opt in pages or sales pages. That definitely puts a damper on some campaigns.
You can submit any webpage/site you want with Sick Profile Maker. You are not limited at all.
Thanks for the info.
John
Does anyone know what Sara HASN’T tried yet??
Holy cow! What are you, Google KGB??
JamestheJust on Elance recently posted..Free SEO Download – Save 999 Get SEO PowerSuite FREE
I never signed up for Socialbookmarking 101 but considered it last year. Just looked into it and decided it wasn’t something I was interested in.
