On Tuesday I was beginning my keyword research for upcoming sites to build using my trusty Micro Niche Finder. I wanted to know my niches and keywords so I could provide a list for my oDesk writers to get started on. I didn’t think I was hitting the Get SOC links too quickly or in large quantities but apparently I was. I started getting those horrifying “0 results”. So I entered the CAPTCHA in my browser and told Google basically that I am not a virus. So I tried to use my MNF again and the same thing, 0 results. I was frustrated and went on to write articles and take care of some other things like finishing up the first site I started this week. A few hours later I came back to MNF and attempted to keyword search and was being a bit apprehensive with the SOC and the next thing I know…BAM. 0 results again! I was sooo frustrated. I felt like a whole day had been wasted.

So yesterday, I decide to read up on how to prevent getting your IP banned by Google while using the SOC results and so I am looking through keywords and only hitting the SOC button if I see the exact search count being reasonable. Even with using this action step, I wasn’t allowing enough time inbetween SOC checks so I once again got IP banned for 4 hours! Ouch! This was really hurting me from being productive.

I searched through threads on the warrior forum and even through the MNF manual to see how to avoid it and basically the best way to avoid it is to check the keywords you want to run the SOC on > Get Checked SOC >  Download results in background. When you download them in teh background, MNF has a 15 second delay or something like that so it paces them out.

I was able to use Micro Niche Finder to find several niches last night without any problems. I was checking as many as 18 keywords at one time and just used the download in the background option just fine.

If you find that you are quick to click on the “Get SOC” then I highly suggest using this method to prevent an IP ban.
