Hi everyone! First things first. I want to say thank you to all of you that prayed for and have continued to pray for my mom. It was pretty darn scary there in the beginning. She originally was admitted with what was thought to be pneumonia in her lungs because she had difficulty breathing. They then put her on a ventilator to breathe for her and then just 3 days after she was admitted to the hospital her heart had stopped and it took 3 attempts to bring her back. Thankfully she returned to us and with no brain damage. Just 1 week after her heart stopped she underwent open heart surgery which included 4 bypasses done and a valve repaired. It was also discovered she is now a diabetic and dependent on insulin. Once we got over those hurdles then there was the issue in which she could not swallow food or drink and had not regained her voice back. The doctors started to get concerned that she may never be able to swallow again. So in the meantime she had to have a peg tube put in (feeding tube for her stomach) which got infected a week later and kept her in the hospital longer. Once the tube got infected the doctors were praying that she could swallow food and drink on her own because the stomach tube was now no longer an option and had to be removed. Praise God that they gave her the “ok” to swallow food with several restrictions.
They released her after being in the hospital for a total of 5 weeks only to have her return just 2 days after being home due to her feeling nauseated all the time and she then couldn’t keep fluids in her. She was back in the hospital for 3 days and then they released her after they had discovered what medication was causing her to become nauseous. She has now been home for 4 days and has not been nauseated nor vomited once. She is getting stronger and now walks without the use of a walker or wheel chair.
Praise God He has healed her and is continuing to work on her!
Now another thing about God is that his timing almost never make sense to us. I learned to be patient with my mom’s healing and recovery because God certainly took his time but it was all to serve a purpose. But what I couldn’t figure out is why is it that after 6 years of being single and praying for God to bring me a good man did God do it when I my mom was nearing the end of her hospital recovery?!?!
What are you talking about Sara?? I mean that I am now in a relationship. We’ve been dating only a little over a week now but he asked me to be his girlfriend a few days ago. I bet none of you thought I would come back from a 6 week hiatus to announce not only was my mom getting better but that I was now involved with a man, now did ya? His name is Josh and he is amazing! I have never met a man like him before and I honestly feel like God picked him out just for me. We are a perfect match it astonishes me.
Anyhow, I am getting back to work slowly. Today was my first day of even touching my sites and all I felt the strength to do was to do some blog commenting. But its time for me to grow now. I have been pretty stagnant with my adsense earnings and its time I gave myself a pay raise so I need to put in some real effort to rank my sites. I am praying Josh doesn’t distract me too much. He’s a student right now so he is on winter break and it might be hard for me to get much done until he is back in school but I am ok with that. A little distraction is a good thing, especially after enduring being at the hospital 24/7 for 5 weeks.
I have truly had the best Christmas ever: my mom is home and healing nicely and I have a romantic interest that gives me butterflies when I am with him and when I think of him. Merry Christmas to all my IM friends and new blog readers. Best wishes to you and your families!

Quite the story. We actually just had a crisis of our own. Our 6 week old baby had heart failure and required open heart surgery. They found that she had several holes in her heart and her aorta was not properly connected. That was all fixed and like your mom, she couldn’t take any food in through her mouth. A g tube was placed in her stomach for feeding and it’s actually still there. We brought her home last Monday and are feeding her through the tube with a pump system.
God does work in mysterious ways but we know he wouldn’t have given us this child if he didn’t know we could handle it. He chose us as the parents.
Keep the faith and know that God has a plan for you and your mother. Glad things are looking up for you.
So sorry, Mike. I can’t even imagine going through that but glad your daughter is doing well. I pray that God will heal her quickly!

Thanks for the well wishes. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s health. I’ll be praying for her and you and your wife too. Please keep me updated on your daughter’s health. I’m looking forward to answered prayer for her.
Hi Mike
Just wanted to say that exactly the same thing happened to the daughter of a friend of mine. She was a couple of months older than your daughter and her heart valves were the wrong way round. The doctors said it was the hole in her heart that saved her. Anyway we went to see her in hospital which was terrible seeing such a tiny thing with about 20 tubes and monitors on her but thankfully she is now a happy healthy 6 year old.

Mike – between you, Sara and Zaheer I need a cotton pickin’ Kleenex. Sorry to hear about that, Mike!
With 8 kids it’s easy to forget just how incredibly blessed we’ve been…Will be praying for your daughter, everything else seems moot. What I mean is, when your child’s sick, and vulnerable beyond merely their childhood merits – then who cares about much else?
Will definitely be praying. I need to read your blog more.

I’m so glad your daughter is back at home Mike – I can’t imagine anything much worse than having something happen to your baby.
We also have someone at our church who’s son was born with half a heart – he survived multiple surgeries and now is a healthy six year old.
We’ll keep your daughter in prayer as well!

Hey Sara,
Wow, glad your back, I was just about to leave a message to see how your Mom was doing. Thank God she is better, we’ve all been praying for her health and its such a wonderful thing to know that she is getting stronger and stronger by the day…bless her, I can’t imagine the amount of pain and suffering she must’ve gone through as well as your whole family.
My son has been tube fed for nearly 2.5 years and has had the PEG put in for about 8 months now. HE is totally reliant on that as he doesn’t eat orally so if that were to become infected I don’t know what we’d do….can totally relate to that….I’m soooooooooo glad that you Mom has her swallowing back, its a natural reflex but sooo hard when its not there.
How long did the doctors say that it will take for a full recovery now. Does she just need plenty of rest?
Congrats on the relationship side of things, you soooooo deserve everything right now.
God does work in mysterious ways, hopefully you havent seen any major dips in earnings, these are all signs.
Anyway, as always, just shout if you need me for anything.
Glad to have you back
Zaheer x

How quickly I forget that the world is full of other people at the end of the pixels. I hope your son gains the ability to enjoy the vicissitudes of eating – how much we take for granted is ridiculous.
Anyhow, your boy and family are in my prayers as well!

Wow Zaheer. I had no idea it had been that long for your son on a peg tube. I remember you saying he has had alot of health issues. I’ll keep him in my prayers too.
My mom has been given permission to return to work after January 1st so I suspect her recovery is going extremely well in their eyes. Now we are working on getting her to exercise more. She has to work up to a mile a day in the next few weeks. Right now she is getting tired after walking to the end of the street and back which is about 6 hours down.
I am down a little this month in adsense earnings but my earnings have been about $600-700 for the months of October and November so I didn’t drop any while at the hospital all the time nor did it increase. However one of my sites that dropped off the SERPs for nearly 1 1/2 years is currently earning $160.00 already this month which is a huge change from $8 last month. lol

Congrats and congrats! Really happy about your mother, and that you’re sorta on your feet (reeling with butterflies and all).
I’ve been on another emotional roller coaster of a different sort this year but tied to other stresses of far less significance than everyone’s reported here.
Thanks for keeping it real, yo’.
And you mom is definitely a reminder of what really matters – and it’s not your AdSense. (Well, now that your mom is on the mend…)
Congratulations, Josh!

Thanks James Sorry to hear about your stresses but health is definitely something we can take for granted. Glad your family is all healthy. Praying your that God blesses your finances.
I’m glad to see you’re back Sara – and with such good news! I hope that your mom continues to recover – and finding a new love isn’t so shabby either. God does work in mysterious ways!

Sara,
What wonderful news . . . both about your mom and your new relationship!
What a journey you and your family have made in such a short space of time. Your mum’s a fighter. It’s great she’s on the mend.
And your new man — good for you. Everything happens just as it should.
Take care…
That’s wonderful that your mom is recovering so well. It really is funny (or not so funny) how God works and things happen on His time. It sounds like you and your family are going to have a wonderful Christmas this year!
