Amazing how I ended up getting quite a bit done yesterday even though the first half of my day was filled with a 2 hour mediation orientation (which had me crying when they made us watch a video on what can happen if we end up at the final step which is the judge requesting an evaluation of my son) and lunch with my son’s grandmother. So basically I didn’t get started until 2pm.
This is what I ended up getting done:
- posted my approved ezine article to goarticles for my amazon review site
- wrote a page of content for one of my xfactor sites that was doing about $20 a month
- bookmarked the page with BMD
- revised the content on another xfactor site (pet niche)
- wrote an article for the pet niche inner page and submitted it to ezines
I think its time that I look more into article marketing. I absolutely hate article marketing for back links but it seems that many people are returning to the original method of article marketing only as John had first advised in his micro niche adsense course.
I’ll have to check out more of James’ posts on article directory submissions. Of course I want something that is semi-automated because I am lazy!
Yesterday’s adsense earnings was $16.33 and so far it was my highest page impressions count since June 3rd with 789. For the past 2 weeks my page impressions have been in the 300-600 range. And I think today will be a good day since its only 10 am and I am already over $9. Maybe I will break $20 today!
Today I am going to work on another amazon review page for my site I built and then write an article for ezine to back link it. I also plan on finding another xfactor site that was earning decent coin to add a new post to and another article to back link that one as well.
I was just looking into loan modifications via makinghomeaffordable.gov, the only problem is I need to supply a profit and loss sheet for my online business. I searched online for free down loadable excel sheets etc but I could only find ones incompatible with my Microsoft office programs. I have 2007 editions. Any suggestions? I’m wondering if there is an inexpensive business software I can get to help with this.

I use a free version of Quickbooks for my craft biz & it has a profit/loss app in it. Just google free quickbooks.

Hmm I downloaded the free version both form CNET and intuit and the setup application doesn’t open for me.
Be sure that you don’t submit all of your content to EZA. There are more article directories and web 2.0 properties out there that have better authority than EZA to rank on the first page. I recall after the MayDay update one of my website’s shooting to the #2 position. Just that same week someone decided to compete with me for my long tail keyword and now they are sitting in the #6 position I occupied before the update. Lo and behold, it’s not an EZA that is riding my tail and that shot up to the first page after being submitted. So I said all that to say…vary the websites you submit original content to. Only so many EZA links will count anyways (unless you’re hoping they get picked up by other websites), however, you can get more varied backlinks via article marketing if you focus on more than just EZA.
Good to hear things are slowly improving. I’m sure with the slow-but-steady process of creating more links and more content for your sites, things will show improvement in the next month or so. It seems like my whole IM career has consisted of two steps forward then one step back, and it all is still very much a learning process. I’m really looking forward to seeing how your Amazon sites do!

Sara I think you can get a free trial for MS Office 2010. Check out this link. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/try-office-2010-FX101868838.aspx?WT%2Emc%5Fid=MSCOM%5FENUS%5FHP%5FTry
The trial is 30 days but I think it can be extended. I also saw “extender” software out there that will extend the trail. But what you could do is download the loan spreadsheet, see if Excel 2010 opens it and then save it as the 2007 version. I use the 2007 version too
Sandy
Thanks Sandy, the forms I saw were actually for older versions and when i tried to convert the files to be compatible they never opened.
I haven’t notice a loss in traffic due to the Mayday changes but my Xfactor sites have all had most of their backlinks from just article marketing.
I still think the loss of traffic for many is a change in the strength of links versus simply losing long tail traffic.
Sara if you can only find downloads compatible with newer versions of Office, just send the file (or the link to the file) and I’ll happily save it in the older format for you (usually it doesn’t affect it badly to save to an older version). Anyway, congrats on all the hard work! You’re doing great still!

Also, I just found all of mike isers websites… its been quite an interesting evening! Its always nice to see how other peoples do things, and what they regard as “quality content” etcff
heh yea “quality” is still subject-able. I had my friend Jon check over one of my sites that I was mad about not ranking while the .org with only 1 page of content was ranking as #5. The first thing he said was “you didn’t write this yourself huh?”. As I read it over I thought, wow this is crappy writing. lol
Sara,
Just came across this after reading a post on the WF – http://www.toprankblog.com/2010/06/google-maile-ohye-ses/
Read the 2nd last post which is quite good.
Also, its interesting to know that you’re going into articel marketing, I have solely focussed on this in the last month or so but it didn’t really help me with Mayday, to be fair I don;t think I submitted a shedload of articles. Did this quite thinly so a nice chunk of articles for a main keyword and an inner page shoudl suffice I think.
Also, agree with varying backlinks from high authotity sites. I use Hubpages which i KNOW works, I tend to see a boost in rankings when I submit somethign there. Also the usual article directories all mixed up help.
Oh and if you can, why not just start up your own article directory….I have. I try and submit at least 1 out of 10 articles that I get back from my writers here, this way I’m building up my own ‘power site’ which is unique in content, I do get lots of dupe content but just reject it, anyway, its a little experiement on the side that I have going to see if there is any scope to help with my site rankings.
If anyone is interested, the script is Article Cat. Dont use Artucledashboard as it can be easily hacked.
Good to know that things are heading in the right direction earnings wise. I wish you all the best with this whole court case business, its just a stress that you DO NOT NEED right now but will keep you in my prayers. Hopefully it will work out in your favour.
With regards to the Amazon stuff, its good to see you diversifying. I’m stayign with my xFactor sites, what Im doing is just adding more content and also adding Amazon links wherever neccessary to make the sites look more prodyc related. Also thank you for the free guide in your previous post, thats something I’ve been looking for for ages, Much appreciated!
What are yoru plans moving forward? Are you going to work on your xFactor sites or just let them run while you build up yoru Amazon sites?
Good luck

Funny you should bring up that very post. I just read that last night myself. It is very interesting to hear what Google thinks about micro niche sites but John did it for so long and so have many others. Although it does seem mroe and more of the people that are earning $50+ adsense days have less than 30 sites but have 50+ pages per site.
Exactly, I think thats the way to go, in fact I think thats the way we all wanted to go eventually but now all we need to do is just change the strategy a little bit.
Have you had any luck with your rankings Sara?

Sara -
I’ve just downloaded OpenOffice and they’re a little bit slower than MS, but they do work. If you need to open any document, the new Google Docs does them all.
I’ve been using them for most of what I do on Elance so I can make use of their “cloud” and keep my desktop cleaner. Then I can export into a .txt file, keeping everything nested nicely in folders, etc.
You can use Google docs whether or not you use a gmail, they’re my new bff’s (cheap guy that I am).
And, just a quick update: NONE of my mass submissions thru UAW, iSnare (I think!), Article Ranks or even The Best Spinner’s directory (which is HARDER to get accepted into than EZA! and I’m triple platinum on EZA…don’t they know me by now? C’mon, TBS — it’s JAMES…forget my 3 am poor grammar in the 3rd level nested spin…) — man that was a big rabbit trail — what I was saying before I interrupted myself is:
NONE of these services have yet to “hit” my Squidoo –
only the MAS/AB have hit that lens –
And it’s jumped up again to #1800+ in its niche (which is health of all niches – competitive), and about #28.8k overall — starting from #8,800 or so for the niche and #150,000+ overall — this is impressive!
(I didn’t expect MAS and AB to have that much effect, but they did.)
The cool thing: I’m getting clicks (though not sales yet) and I know as it ranks up, I’ll get a lot more (buying) traffic. The other neat-as-a-bag-o-Kettle-Chips thang:
I have a handful of EZA and other high-ranking articles that are in the approval stage, along with the other mass-article networks. Hopefully this thing blows up my close ratio.
…too bad you can’t flip a squid…
Alright. Gotta hit the Elance trail – made a nice chunk last weekend on Elance, hoping to make another lump.
BTW: thanks for continuing to post here despite your circumstances — we are praying on your behalf. Your fortitude and business tips are inspiring! Keep it up, it beats linkjuice!

Actually, you can flip lens. Not sure if it is still profitable since Squidoo has cracked down so much lately, but do a search for “squidoo lens flip”.
And you thought I didn’t read online stuff. Who’s the average genius now!
LOL! You got schooled by your own mom James!
THANKS, MA!

I’m now making 4-5$ a week on adsense. Most of my sites were not at the top 10 ever, probably keyword research mistakes since I took more trafficked kws but with stronger competition. My #1 adsense earner got from #5-6 to the bottom of page 3. Now I’m conducting experiment on getting it back without extra backlinking
Mayday should be f@#….. hacked!
My sites got crushed as well but I am not sure if they will recover anytime soon. Since I have 75+ sites it is going to take a lot of time to build up content and back links.
I guess it is a good thing we like this internet stuff!
