I spoke too soon. I somehow jinxed myself by saying I was finally out of the $30-33 range because yesterday I had the worst Adsense day. It was the lowest I have seen in 3 months! It was $16.26. Ouch! I know I just made a bunch of you gasp didn’t I? That’s the way it goes with earning from adsense. Heck, even Xfactor himself has said that on any given day his adsense earnings can fluctuate + or – $500.00. That’s a pretty huge change so I guess I shouldn’t be complaining about earning half of my daily norm.
Monthly Earnings For May
Adsense $959.09
Other affiliate sales: $332.21
Total: $1,291.30
I only earned about $2.00 more for the month of May with adsense then I had earned in April. As I had mentioned in yesterday’s post, I have pretty much been at the $30-33 daily range for 2 months. I am hoping with all the google dancing going on right now that my earning bracket will be higher and that I break the 1k mark in adsense earnings.
On another note, since many of my micro niche sites are G dancing, I just checked this morning on my niche blog that was sand boxed in October but I pulled it out in March with terry’s backlinks. The site is also dancing at the moment and sadly it did not earn one sale this month. I am relieved to say that I am so glad I did not count on that site to be my biggest earner. Even though for 7 months it was consistently earning me $100-200.00 a month in product affiliate sales, it has not had a $100 month in 7 months now. This is why I love the micro niche sites path, because nothing is guaranteed. You never know if a niche will do well and you never know if the competition will be too steep but you aren’t putting all your hopes in the success of one site either. With micro niche sites you can test the waters and see which sites are a success and which are flops.
I’m trying not to freak out about all the google dancing that is going on. I have a site that is 4 months old with 625 back links and it is no where to be found. Its still indexed and receiving a few clicks but a .org came up out of no where with only 6 back links all from profile back links. That .org is sitting at #5 and my site was sitting at #4 pretty much since it first got indexed. I am really hoping that this dancing just means I will be ranking higher in a few days.
As for my authority site project, that site is still g dancing as well and is no longer on page 1. Its got some strange things showing for backlinks. Checking it in SEO Spyglass it is showing 1117 backlinks with only 2 ezine articles but in YSE it is only showing 97 backlinks with 9 backlinks from ezines. Craziness! Some cool things about this authority site project is seeing how many unique visitors the additional content has been attracting. Only 3% of my traffic is directly from ezines while 65% is from Google and 12% from yahoo.
Today is my son’s last day of school so bring on the summer days which will be even harder to focus on my work for this month. Can’t I just skip ahead by like 4 weeks??? Please?

That is an ouch day – Adsense can be so unpredictable! Looks like you had a good month for May though – I hope once your sites stop dancing you move towards a new adsense bracket. You certainly deserve it with all the hard work you put into this.

I’ve noticed weird stuff with my sites as far as rankings. I feel like Google is up to something, maybe tweaking their algo. Things are never boring in this business!

Oh wow! That was a drop but you’re right I’m sure the fluctuations are completely normal. Not long til you’ll be breaking that $1000 Adsense barrier

Did you also see a definite drop in average ecpm?
I have days like these on occasion. The traffic is usually the same but ctr and ecpm much much lower than usual.
It seems to hit all my sites on the same day. Usually next day is back to normal.

My sites are also doing a little dance. Looks like its normal activitity. But still, I like a little stableness in this area. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.
Mine are also doing the dance. Those that were #4-#7 are now gone. I’m backlinking a lot so I’m quite sure that they will come back. Just hope they come back soon and fast! I know I get discouraged day by day sometimes but it’s the month to month growth that is important.
I read the title and thought that you were happy about a $16 day. OOPS! Interesting the way that those words in your title communicated a certain idea to me based upon my perspective. I am just hoping that I can get a $10 day sometime in the next year. So, I guess I shouldn’t say congrats but offer my condolences instead. Hopefully, things will be turning back around for you soon.

I’m on the other end of things – I’d be happy for that $16 day – I had a $15+/- day in January, but mostly $1-$5/day from Adsense for me (only 9 sites).
This caught my eye, though, when you said:

I’m just curious if you’ve checked to see if the aff link is still in tact, and if your links are still working? Sometimes an aff partner can change a landing page or tweak a sales page, or what have you…I had this happen on one of my sites where the aff partner had dropped out of CJ altogether.

Ha! Just peeped the sidebar.
How cool izzat?? Thanks, Sara.
it’s just one average day.
pretty sure your earnings will go back to normal in a jiffy!
oh yeah. has anyone noticed that for a 5000 exact searches a month (for example),
if you look at g0ogle an4lytics, if ranked position #1 to #3, the keywords that people use are often NOT the exact search phrase; e.g. “small dog pets”.
even if there are people searching “small dog pets” and landed on your site, it’ll be only like 100 or less maybe.
instead, it’s more like a combined variety of broad searches, related to the main kw, that gets people to land on your site.
can anyone relate to this?

I’m having the same problem. I think this explains what happened.
Thanks for sharing that Josh. It does have me worried.

Yeah, super sleuth Josh here got me going on a run-down of SearchEngineLand’s piece from May 27th of the fiasco. Definitely think it’s affected a lot of people. Definitely affected my few sites, taking my #2 Adsens3 earner off the map in G.
The good news is that my number one site is still raking it in…will have to post my May totals perhaps this weekend. Just wanted to say to all involved in mini-sites/authority sites, etc.: stick with it, though — passive is still the way to go. And backlink…and add pages..
And read more about ranking strategies. I should have that interview back this week with a household-name SEO, we’ll see if he gets back to me sometime soon (he doesn’t have a reason to other than he’s good peeps).

Had my first $1 day with adsense earnings in MONTHS yesterday. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the algorithm changes, as I earned nearly $20 the day before – probably just a strange, random fluke. I much prefer it when those flukes go the other way, however!
