Well, since all my main money maker sites slipped off of page 1 in the SERPs and are currently earning 1/4th to 1/3rd what they were, I really started to research on what was the best method to go with to help recover those sites and get my income back. I read a few threads on the warrior forum and I found it very frustrating to hear some morons actually suggest to forget those old sites that you have spent many, many hours working on, adding tons of content, article marketing on, backlink building on and just walk away from them to build a new site. There was no way I was gonna abandon my babies. So what was the logical approach??? Building back links of course!
I am slowly recovering one site I have been working on for about 3 weeks now. As of the Panda Oct. 14th update this site in particular slipped from it’s normal #2 spot to #12!! So for the next 2 weeks I blog commented with legit comments through CommentLuv enabled sites and bought the CommentLuv+ premium plug-in and installed that on my site too. This helped because my site then went from #12 to #8 but even after a few more days of blog commenting, I noticed my site was still stuck at #8.
So what was I to do next?? I decided to give Build My Rank a try. So last week I posted 5 blog posts with BMR and now it’s one week later and my site has in fact moved up to #5!!
I definitely want to diverse my backlinking and I am doing just that so now my next step is I am going to write an article and submit to a few article directories. I will outsource someone to back link those articles for me.
I am just glad to see movement and that not all is lost. It’s gonna take me several weeks to recover my sites but they are not a waste!

I’m actually testing out different promotion methods myself and the last one I’m working on seems to be doing well. A site I’ve created a month ago already gets a minimum of 10 visitors each day.
I have all kind of “test” sites where I try out new things (and only one thing with each site so I know what works) and I have to say, up till now my test site for syndication is having the best results.
I wish you lots of success with getting your sites back to the top 3.

I could’ve written this post. A couple weeks ago, two of my sites fell in rankings. I put hundreds of hours into these sites so there is no way I’m going to abandon them. I ended up making a ton of blog comments on CommentLuv blogs and my sites moved up a lot in the rankings but for the past week they’ve been stuck. Yesterday, I signed up for a BuildMyRank free trial. I’m not sure if the $59 a month is worth it but if it helps my sites move up using the free trial, I think it would be worth it to try it for a full month.
I am certain you will see a boost in your sites from BMR but I just hope that people do not rely on just BMR to help them reach #1 because I feel it’s not enough. You gotta diversify your backlinks with articles, profile links, blog commenting, bookmarking etc; just as it’s been preached to us IMers for years now.
Sara,
That is great news on the site. Can you what the commentluv plug-in does? I try to do posts on commentluv blogs but wasn’t sure what the plug-in adds? Is it an extra link in one’s signature? Also, I find bmr does help sites a lot and in fact I do posts for people if anyone is pulling out the hair due to the boredom of writing them. I also agree with having article backlinks as well having one’s own posts on their blog be at least 500 words in length. PS Your new pic looks good!
Debbie
Hi Deb! Thanks! I figured I needed to start branding myself a bit better so I now use the same photo for my Facebook, twitter, this blog and my Google+. The only problem is I have my twitter account consisting of friends from the Youtube weight loss community that I became real active with a few years ago and now my IM people. So still trying to figure out if I should just create a new Twitter account for my internet marketing.
Anyhow, about CommentLuv+. The main thing why it’s pretty cool is because it’s like 4 plug-ins in one. It does allow the commenter to have their most recent post linked to the end of their comment like Leslie’s (scoll up to see hers) which will encourage people to want to leave comments, which is a win win for you because it adds more content to your page.
But the cool thing is the newest aspects of the plug-in which now there is a GASP function which helps prevent spam comments.
Another feature is there is now the option for a commenter to insert their twitter name. By inserting their twitter name you are helping the commenter get relevant followers because they have a common interest which if this was a blog in the beauty niche then you would get other followers also interested in beauty.
Then there is the final part of the plug-in which lets you choose whether or not you want your commenters to be able to use keywords as their username. You can enable this and specifiy how many comments must they make on the blog before being allowed to use keywords as their name and you can specify a maximum length, so I have activated it on this blog and make the settings be so that a 3 keyword is the maximum. You can also choose to turn that feature off and if someone tries to use keywords as the name, the plug-in will strip it and use only the first part of their keyword as their name.
And lastly, you are encouraging commenters in your niche to visit your blog with the plug-in installed because Andy has a system in which he scans for blogs that are using the premium plug-in and they are entered in a database in which fellow premium users have access to the search engine to find relevant blogs that contain the commentLuv+ plug-in so you can comment and get effective backlinks.
I hope that answered your questions about it.
Sara,
Thanks for the in-depth answer on the plug-in. PS I am not sure why the avatar has a sad face for my post! When you use commentluv on people’s sites, do you use your keyword as your name at the top field (ie I see Leslie’s comment has her own name at top)? Do you also make posts using wordpress blogs or bloggerblogs? I used to use commenhut but have not used that in a while.
I am finding that the people I often write the buildmyrank posts for don’t want the keyword phrase in the title. Do you put it there?
Are you doing anything these days with profile links or web 2.0 backlinks?
You look peaceful and happy in your new pic!
Debbie
I currently use my name for my comments just because I am desperate to get any sort of PR juice flowing to my sites that have suffered in rankings and I figure there is a 99% chance my comments are going to be approved when I look legit without putting keywords as my name. But if I see other comments approved that use keywords as their name, then I will go ahead and leave keywords as my name too.
As far as web 2.0 properties, so far I am using a few that James suggested to me. A lot of the former web 2.0 sites no longer allow you to create new content or some have converted over to membership sites now. So for now I am using:
Hubpages
Wizzley
Snipsly
Squidoo
Xoomba
I am doing profile backlinks but saving myself some time by hiring people through Fiverr to do them for me. I just hired a guy $5 for 6,000 profile backlinks which I pointed to an article I wrote on a web 2.0 site. I also ordered a pyramid backlinking structure from another guy on there for $5 to test out on another site of mine. So, now to see if these have actually helped my sites any.
I’m glad I look peaceful. It could be because I am deeply in love with a wonderful man and he took the photo lol. He really is so good to me!
Hi Sara,
Glad you have found some happiness, in one market anyway. It will help with the other marketing sites in the future.
How are the $5er’s doing for you and your results from Build My Rank? I’m sure it takes a little time to see the full results.
I have made a post on my personal site about you and other similar marketers and would like to get a copy of your new “Happy” picture for your listing in the post. You can check it out here:

I am sure your efforts will prove out. It’s always a crazy time during the holidays.
Happy Holidays to you and you’re Boys!

Hi Steve,
My apologies for getting back to you so late. I am so honored to be featured for your post. I’ll be glad to send you a photo of my “happy picture”. lol
So far I tried out 2 FIVERRs and one of them was probably not the best deal since it caused my main money making site to be completely sandboxed and it has not recovered. It was an offer to do a sort of pyramid deal so it was to prevent all the backlinks to hit my main page. The profile links were extremely spammy looking. It you check out my latest post, I talk a bit more about it.
Unfortunately I also focused on the same site with BMR. Well I did the trial links on it and then about 2 weeks later I went ahead and applied the FIVERR deal on it. Not so smart of me. I did see the site move up with BMR though in just a few days.
Happy Sara has been updated.
Thank You,
Steve

Nice! Glad to see BMR and CLP are doing their thing. I’ll have to share with you my link building experiments more often, currently seeing good things clawing back to the top.
And like you I use my name most often…the other cool thing is the click tracking, which helps me see which titles get the most CTR and which blogs to bother with. But hey – a links’ a link.
Super glad to hear you’re climbing the SERPs: like you I hate to sacrifice all the hours invested (my websites are my virtual puppies – who wants to leave their puppies behind?).
I feel the need to get myself a dog for Christmas after saying that. Gotta run before I do something I’ll regret later.

Hello,
I want to share some points from my experience. I’m not from US so it’s really hard for me to write in good English. Almost all of my sites are made by not US writers from sites like odesk.com or freelancer.com.
My journey of adsense micro niche sites started at 2009 summer. In the 2010 summer I had my first 100$/a day months. In a while google started to update their algorhitm and I was slapped hard. Almost 90 websites we’re fitlered out (vanished). This is getting worse and worse. Now I’m getting like 2$/day
I made couple experiments on what is working and what is not:
1. Write good and lengthy content (750-5000 words is fine; keyword will tell how many words you can write about it)
2. You must integrate social networks to your website (facebook, twitter, +1)
3. Don’t link-build to your homepage (backlinks are devalued last month. Now backlinks are with similar power like on-site seo
). When making link-building use different anchors all the time, rotate them.
4. You can’t index more backlinks than most agressive marketer at your particular SERP, be wise.
5. Make diversity in backlinks: hubpages, white-hat forum marketing (to index your profile page and possible signature link, preferable in related forums; not too many articles in article directories, good comments). Other backlink building techniques won’t work with adsense sites, for example guest blogging. If you have more money you can go with various programs like Uinque Article Wizard, Build My Rank and similar (but this is grey-hat, google will shut-down it. I know it, as I follow what they expect in Web 3.0).
6. Use google alerts and add content daily (this is most important thing now to do small sites. This is so-called “google fresh index” which replaced backlinks understanding from essence. Now you have back-texts – google bot find exact match text and shows it in google-text-index which then goes to google alerts. You then write about it, google indexes you, put’s you to next google alerts and text-index. I’m only started on this.
7. Mention other sources, add quotations and out-bound links to authorities.

I have couple websites which are really bad in terms of content quality and backlink profile, so my only option is abandon them and start working on new system. This will take 5x more money for same result like one year ago, but this is only one option to find a possible way to live next 5-10 years, crysis will be bad. I’m counting that for one website to make 3$/day, I need to invest about 500-600$ and then add fresh content all the time.
Give me your thoughts.
Vytas
Vytautas, you don’t need $500 to make $3 per day. What matters are the keywords you choose. if you had made $100 a day before, you can do it again. If I were you I would create new sites for those keywords that made you $100 per day. Go to flippa, find keywords, make a site on those keywords, and make your money (I know it is not as easy like that, but it is doable).
Congrets that your site moved upto 5 and best of luck for your next step i.e. Article one as this is also works for you definately if done correctly as this is one of the best method of building strong and quality back links for your site.
Anyway thanks a lot for this and keep working like this and see sooner your site is on at top position.
Hmmm… I’m kind of new on backlinks and SEO. The thing that caught my eye was in one of your comments; “So far I tried out 2 FIVERRs and one of them was probably not the best deal since it caused my main money making site to be completely sandboxed and it has not recovered.”
I’ll be very careful when picking a fiverr gig in the future.
Thanks for great post.
