I have roughly 16 blogs up at this moment but I only have Adsense on 5 of them. Now between the 5 of them they only earn on average a combined total of $1.50 a day. Yikes, I know! I just read an interesting post on The Keyword Factory that has made me rethink earning with adsense.
When I started niche blogging back in Novemeber 2008, I pretty much blew off the idea that I would earn big money with adsense, so my main focus was going to be to earn with affiliate products. After reading that post I now have reconsidered earning with Adsense.
One of my main failures for earning with adsense was the fact that I had not been targeting keyword phrases that have a high CPC. I have been too focused on only writing posts that had a at least a minimum of 1,000 searches a month that I wasn’t paying attention to making a post with a keyword phrase that had a high CPC. I can’t believe what a rookie mistake that has been. It’s pretty much a no brainer. Would you rather earn $0.03 a click or would you rather earn $1.50+ per click?
Another mistake was I had not been working at targeting my keywords too well. Sure, I used it in the title and maybe 1-2 times in my posts. According to The Keyword Academy you should only use it 2 times in a 300 word post and if your word count is 1,000+ use it 10 times.
Today’s goal
1.) Go back to some of my older blogs and insert 300×250 square ads into my posts.
2.) Write 2-3 new posts on some new blogs with keywords that have a high CPC
3.) Finish Paul’s April back links for one of my sniper sites (which has come out of the sandbox by the way) 
Bonus if I can write an article for Ezine for that sniper site too!

That was a good post about earnings. I must say I too have some sites that get a little amount per click. I have 6 sites and i’m averages $6-$8 day through Adsense. Now I see which ones do not perform as well.
I’m with you, I need to start looking for those that get higher CPC.
Yea I feel like quite the novice for not thinking so much about writing content specifically to target high paying CPC words. lol
Your still one (ok several lol) steps up on me Ive come to realize part of my failure is that I did no keyword research at all. I picked topics I enjoy and went with them. Coming into this with some seo knowledge at least I did tend to pick keyword domain names.
