I think maybe for inner pages you should try to “just beat” the page at nr 1 rather than crush them with 10x their number of links. I have been going after a very small search term and have about 40 or links into it with optimised anchor text – nothing! Stuck at pos 7 when everything but nr 1 result is very weak – baffling sometimes….

Hi Andy. My main page has 390 backlinks and 98% of those are from John’s service. So they have stuck even four months later. The site has pretty much not budged since July. Its is still sitting at #14. It is ranking #1 in Yahoo and #5 in Bing.

Each inner page has approx 160 backlinks with 99% of those coming from John’s service.

Sadly the inner pages are not ranking and currently all keyword TLD are all on page 2. The .com and .org are both ranking higher than my site.

Now the puzzling thing is that every single site ranking for the keyword on the page one results are all product listings. So for example Bed, Bath & Beyond is ranking at #2 and the page has nearly 0 content, just the actual product listings with a quick item title under the image. What is most interesting is that the page only has 3 backlinks. So Google is not necessarily awarding pages with more backlinks. This has been the hardest thing to figure out since the algorithm changes in May.

Can we get an upodate on this 4 months on?
How many links are still showing up?
Where did the site settle in the SERPS for each keyword?
Did the site stay there or drop down again?
I am thinking that buying a 400 backlinks packet for $100 is a lot for each micro site (esp if you are creating loads of them) unless they are going to earn that money back pretty quickly.

Looking forward to an update if you have time to do one either here or on the other post about Backlinks Phillipines that you wrote.

No, I never followed John’s suggestions for the content writing. I have always wrote information on how to use x product, comparing x product to other similar products or tips for using x product. I never did any sort of product details, its just not the kind of content I would want on my sites. people can get that stuff from Amazon. I wanted something “beefier”.
