I’m back from my vacation and although it was nice to break away from the computer, my business and home responsibilities…3 1/2 days of camping was more than enough for me. We camped near a town called Medicino, CA. It was freezing cold the first night and I quickly learned that I would not be able to keep up with my protein shake drinking because I had to get up 4 times during the night to pee. Getting up to pee when its freezing cold outside and having to jet down 2 campsites away to pee just wasn’t my idea of a good night.  There was a crap load of yummy food around 24/7 and even though I fought temptation 4 of the 6 days I was gone, I gave in on 2 days and somehow managed to return home with a 2 lb gain.  I’m hoping its just sodium from all the BBQ-ed meats since they were marinaded or had some sort of rub.

On Saturday afternoon we drove to Van Dam beach where many people dive for the abalone. The beach was freezing since there was so much wind. After spending the afternoon at the beach we drove to Fort Brag which is about 40 minutes north of our campground.  I am not proud to admit that I was going through major cell phone withdrawls. I whipped out my phone as soon as we hit Fort Brag and was excited to see I had service. I responded to a few text messages I had received and an email that my personal trainer friend sent me to check up on my eating. We then headed back to our campground to prepare the abalone for the feast.

The abalone was amazing! We had 4 men that camped with us that actually dove for the abalone on Saturday. They were able to get 11 of them. Saturday night they sliced the abalone using a deli meat slicer and us campers took turns tenderizing the abalone meat. It takes about 2-3 minutes to tenderize each slice and my forearm was on fire after each piece I tenderized. They then breaded the pieces and fried them in oil over the camp stove. The fried abalone tastes very similar to calamari. It is also identical in texture.

We had a great time and I look forward to going again next summer.

While on vacation it was nice to see that I had earned a total of $158 with my adsense. That is such a great feeling knowing I was earning while being away from home.

I had returned home Monday night so I didn’t actually do any work on my sites until yesterday. I managed to write 4 ezine articles.  I am trying to boost site #7 which is currently at #13 in the SERPS for its main keyword. After Mayday it was lost in the SERPS but in early July it came back at #12 but is slowly slipping so I decided to toss some article backlinks at it.

I’ve noticed a few more sites are slowly rising in the SERPs and they still remain untouched since Pre-Mayday so this is definitely a good sign.

One peculiar thing I have noticed is that one of my sites has been consistently receiving clicks every day since August 1 even though it is no where to be found in the first 10 pages of the SERPs for its main keyword. But since August 1 it has earned $20.55. This morning it has had its highest day of the month, earning $6.54. This is enough to alert me that this niche is a gem and that I need to work on getting this site ranking for its main keyword because if it is earning this much from just long tails, just imagine how much more it could be earning if it was actually ranking for the main keyword?! This site gets 5.4k exact monthly searches and the average CPC is $0.82-$1.89.

Today is a busy day. I gotta get some article writing in for this site and then I have to meet with my lawyer. *sigh* I can’t wait for all this crap to be over with.
