Whew! Three weeks under my belt, 42 sites built and $1,400.00 charged to my credit card later. Ouch! I got my first credit card bill from when I started outsourcing, buying 14+ domains a week and my UAW and Traffic Kahuna Memberships 4 weeks ago. That is pretty hefty, especially after recently reading about how some college kid is only paying $400.00 a month to outsource his back links, content and registering 31 domains a week. Of course he only buys .info domains for his xfactor sites and he can easily rank in #1 or #2 on page one after he sends a bunch of back links to his domains.
Speaking of .info domains for xfactor sites. Last night I was checking up on my rankings for a site I had launched last week and on page 3 at the top was the .info of my main keyword. He was outranking me and he only had 6 back links to his site which were all from his own little network of sites. I know because as I looked at each site that was back linking to his main .info, they all had the same exact set up. They are xfactor styled templates but not exact. Looks like the templates were made in Artiseer and the colors weren’t that ugly green and black theme but it you can definitely see the similarity. I have no doubt that I will outrank him as soon as my site goes through the google dance. It has only been indexed for about 3 days and it got clicks its first day of being indexed. So, I know it will earn me something! I just hope it can move up to page 1 quickly.
I recently asked all of my content writers to write me articles of 550 words. Previously I had them writing only 450 words at $2 per article. now that I am asking for 550 words, I am paying $3 per article. The reason why I wanted more words was so that I can get more anchored back links to use with Syndicate Kahuna (which is part of the Traffic Kahuna package.) SK is pretty strict on how often a keyword or link can be used. So anything under 500 words can only have 1 link. 550+ allows 2-3. My articles sent through SK show up within a week or so after they have first been submitted through the system. They show up in Google Webtools and Yahoo Site Explorer rather quickly. It definitely makes it worth the effort to have your articles spun for submission to it.
oDesk back link builder update: I had hired a guy through oDesk that was suppose to build links to 5 of my sites. We’ll call him “Foolboo”. The job was to have him build 50 links a week to each site. The guy had assured me all was well and he knew what was expected etc. He promised to send me an excel sheet on Tuesday showing where the links were located etc. Tuesday rolls around and no word from him. Wednesday (which is now really Thursday his time) I send him a polite email telling him I had not heard from him and asking for him to please respond. By Friday I had not heard back from him but when I check out his history, I see that he has been applying for more jobs on odesk over the past several days. So I fire his ass! After the paragraph below, this will become more amusing…
So I know there are a lot of people using scrape box. This started to peek my interest but I wasn’t ready for purchasing it because i just felt like spamming blogs was not my style. So I took advantage of some WSO of people promising you back links for really cheap. I ordered a package of 100 links for $1 and another package of 2100 links for $29.00. I am sure some of these offers are done through using SB. I started to get more curious about SB, so I read some more about it and from what I saw, it is really powerful at finding high PR sites to comment on. So I bought it and figured what I would do, is I will find blogs with PR of 4+ and then outsource blog commenters to post on this list I create for them.
So I posted a position on oDesk and it looks like I found some great deals. I was able to find 1 commenter that lives in the US and charges only $4 an hour. She said she can do my daily blog comment needs for only 2 hours of work. The other commenter is also $4 and she is from the Ukraine. The US commenter finished her first set quickly and followed my instructions. She kept saying how awesome the posting sites list was that I gave her because she said there were very few CAPTCHAs and she didn’t have to register to post. When I looked at the comments she wrote, they were 100% on topic as though she was really reading the posts. She also said she would be glad to do more of them daily too. I am pretty excited about that because this will help me tremendously with back linking new sites I build each week.
The Ukraine writer is also very good. She ended up getting a list compiled of a bunch of political sites (ewwww) and surprisingly; her comments were also on topic and appears as though she is generally interested in the posts. I can’t believe how well I scored on those two.
Here’s the funny part. Loser, previously hired, back linker, “Foolboo” had the nerve to apply for this new position! The one that dropped off the face of the earth and stole my $10 of his required upfront fees. I normally do not accept applicants that do upfront fees but he had a clean record at the time. I had interviewed him and spoke with him about 3 times before hiring. He already had an ongoing 2 month position as a back linker for another person (This is probably crap. Maybe he hired himself on another account to look legitimate. Anyhow, it was nice to leave him negative feedback to warn others about his worth ethics and to also reject his 2nd application with a big fat response of “You sir, are a thief!”.
UAW Submissions
I was actually speaking with my sister last night about my UAW submissions. She was mentioning how she wants to get some jobs on elance or odesk. She is a literature major and an English Grammar Nazi. I wish I was kidding. Anyhow, she mentioned how she would be interested in doing my UAW submissions for me. So I spent about an hour today training her on how UAW works and how to successfully get a submission done. We haven’t really talked about how much I would pay her but I am thinking I can pay her like $3 per a submission. I get 5 spun articles returned to me everyday, so i will probably have her do at least the 5 a day or possibly more since I am back logged right now.
I was just adding up how much all this outsourcing is going to cost me now. I am looking at $84 a day. That’s quite a bit considering I am only earning about $20 in adsense a day right now.
Here’s a quick update on my sites built from week 1 and some from week 2.
Site #28 – week 1#20, week 2 #18, week 3 #17
Site #29 – #10, still sitting at #10, #10
Site #30 – R#22, #18, week 3 #15
Site #31 – sandboxed, #18, week 3 #11
Site #32 – Ranking #26, now at #8, 38
Site #33 – week 1 #14, week 2 #11
Site #34 – week 1 #28 (boo! Hiss! another xfactor site popped up with 200+ links)
Site#35 – week 1 sandboxed
Site #36 – sandboxed, week 2 #13, week 3 #11
Site #37 – ranking #11 (there is another xfactor site ahead of me), week 3 #11 (other xfactor site is still 2 positions higher than me with only a few back links)
Site #38 – week 1 #28, week 2 #20
Site #39 – #11 (there is another xfactor site I am competing with and another one; only the template is not John’s exact), #13
Site #41 – sandboxed
Site #42 – ranking #24, 22
Site #43 – ranking #13, #11
Site #44 – ranking #12, 11

Very interesting post. You’ve had an eventful week.
I’m glad you found some good backlinkers after booting that one joker. That’s why I am always so hesitant about outsourcing, it’s tough dealing with some of the nonsense. At least you caught him early before you sunk down more money or worse, he messed up (left a bunch of spammy links).
.-= Carrie´s last blog ..Time to Update =-.
Yea, I would say that there is always a 10% chance that there will be some douche bag that doesn’t perform the job and that will not communicate that they are no longer interested in the position. Before the back linking incident, about 2 weeks ago I had hired a rewriter that never turned in her articles to me. Same thing as Foolboo, no communication, she just dropped off the face of the earth but continued to apply for positions on odesk while ignoring my messages asking when would she be done with my articles.
I did score and get another blog commenter last night that will cost me about $3 to do 35 comments and I looked over her comments she did for me and they are not spammy at all. So i scored on her too. lol
Hey Sara,
That’s great you have 42 sites set up. I think you said you use traffic kahuna to spin the articles. Do you have to manually adjust them a lot? You said one of your writers will write it for syndicate kahuna and then will the spinner change it so it goes through the network? I’ll definitely get it through your link when I get it. It looks like you have a lot of number 11 rankings which is good!
Deb
Traffic Kahuna includes their own spinning software that you download to your desktop to use. By using it, your articles make perfect sense because you are rewriting to replace whatever words you highlighted to change and the variants that get swapped in are your own replacements. There are no thesauruses to use or what not. Your articles will not be spin to sound like gibberish because it only spins whatever variants you, yourself entered for it.
I’ll spin the paragraph below and then show you some variations you would get after spinning it.
Original:
You can find some great people to work for you on oDesk. I have nothing but good reviews to say about the service, even if I have had a few duds.
Spin 1:
oDesk is a great service that will allow you to find some terrific people to work with. I feel as though my experience with them has been very pleasant, even if I have encountered a few duds.
Spin 2:
It is possible to find some wonderful workers on oDesk. I feel as though my experience with them has been very pleasant, even if I have encountered a few duds.
Spin 3:
You will be able to to find some amazing people to work with on oDesk. I feel as though my experience with them has been very pleasant, even if I have encountered a few duds.
Spin 4:
You can find some great people to work for you on oDesk. I feel as though my experience with them has been very pleasant, even if I have encountered a few duds.
Spin 5:
You will be able to to find some amazing people to work with on oDesk. I cannot speak highly enough about this service, even if I have experienced a few people that didn’t work out.
Spin 6:
You will be able to to find some amazing people to work with on oDesk. I feel as though my experience with them has been very pleasant, even if I have had a few duds.
Spin 7 (because it my lucky number):
You can find some great people to work for you on oDesk. I have nothing but good reviews to say about the service, even if I have crossed paths with a few non-responsive people.
You can choose how much or how little of a paragraph you want to spin. I actually have my writer rewrite every sentence. So with the software she will supply 3 alternatives for every sentence. this makes the articles more unique.
Yes, I seem to be able to hit the sweet spot of #11 once a site settles into its ranking. But my short term goal is to get those sites to at least #5. I notice that if I can get in spot #4 or #5 then I will earn about $1.30-1.70ish a day but if I get the site to #3 then I earn about $3.00 a day. $3.00 a day is my goal so I need to bump those sites up ASAP.
Contrats on getting 42 sites up. That is a big step. I have a question about traffic kahuna. Does it include web2.0 mayhem? It looks good and I am going to buy thru your link if I decide to go with it.
Doug
Hi Doug,
Yes, TK does include Web 2.0 Mayhem which is fabulous! I have only used mayhem on one site right now and before I ran it on this particular xfactor site of mine, it was sitting in the middle of page 3. I noticed that after 1 week of running Mayhem on it, it seemed to move up a position every day until last week when it was pretty solid at #12. Just 2 days ago it finally hit #11 and is at the bottom of page 1! I know in just a few weeks it will move spots without me ever having to touch it anymore. The campaign has already been set up and it just needs some time now.
I think Mayhem is great for stubborn sites that doesn’t seem to want to budge much.
Those spun pars look great – I went over to learn more about TK but it says the doors are closed for the time being
You seem to be having some success with your sites in their early days. Are your adsense earnings from these XFactor sites or from other sites you own?
I still haven’t had any clicks on adds for last week’s sites – but I managed to build four more yesterday to make 9 in total. I’m just submitting the three EZA articles for each one which hopefully will be published tomorrow.
.-= Clare Swindlehurst´s last blog ..Site 5 is now indexed! =-.
Hi Clare,
Yes, each month TK only has a small window where they allow new members to join. Make sure you sign up for their email announcement list. Jason usually gives 24 hours notice before he reopens and those spots go fast! I only signed up because back in December I had signed up for the notification and as soon as I got the email announcing doors reopening I think I checked the TK site out at least every 30 minutes the next day.
I earn some of my adsense from 2 other niche blogs I own but its very minimal. The bulk of my daily adsense earnings are from xfactor sites. Over the last 7 days I have earned $109.00 with adsense. $45 of that was from my niche blogs and the rest was from xfactor sites. This week I had some low daily averages and I am not sure why. I just know that this amount is going to shoot up in the next week or two. I’d like to shoot for at least $200 a week in the next few weeks.
Wow, 4 sites in one day is great Clare! If you keep building like that, you will see your adsense dramatically change in a few weeks. I think its funny how most people would see all of this building as a waste of time because they don’t instantly receive gratification. Unfortunately adsense sites may start off earning only pennies a week or even a month but in 3 months those puppies can be earning you $3.00+ a day. Let’s say in February you managed to build 20 sites, come May, you could be making $60.00+ a day.
I have been building since October, had I actually done proper keyword research (not adding words to domains and targeting sites that receive 3k+ monthly searches not like some of my low sites of 1,900 searches) by now I could have been making an estimated amount $70.00 a day from my previous 30ish sites. Its mind boggling for the earning potential once you master proper keyword research and put the work in to get the sites built and back linked.
Hi Sara, thanks for all your efforts here and kind help. I started off very ambitious with my bodycholesterol site but have decided I need to step back a bit as I really wasn’t understanding how important the backlinking efforts are. I purchased the xfactor ebook for an education into what makes a keyword rank and I am now realising how difficult it can be if youdon’t have the right keywords. My question is, how critical is it to have a domain name without added keywords. I have recently started working on my first xfactor site but although my keyword has all the desired characteristics that you mention in terms of count I had to buy a domain name and had to add choice to it. CAn the backlinking plan proposed by xfactor author overcome this. All advice welcome. Thanks for all your kindhelp and enthusiasm, Ken.
.-= Kenneth´s last blog ..What are the main causes of heart disease? =-.
To be honest Ken, it is going to take quite a bit of back linking in order to over come and rank. I no longer bother with my first sites that have added words in the domain because in the hours I would spend back linking that one site, I could have just found a ton of new keywords that I could easily rank for. I’m all for trying to rank quickly with little back linking effort.
But if you simply must have that keyword then I would suggest getting your article marketing campaigns set up right away. I’ve also heard of people posting a new article to ezine every day for a few weeks to help them rank a bit faster. Also do some blog commenting on some high PR blogs. Find a forum in the same niche and become an active participating member so you can use signature links.
Sounds like a lot of effort huh? If the CPC is worth it, go for it. If its pretty low, I would just build it as John suggests and get your article back links done for it as John suggests and then move onto the next site.
42 sites is alot to keep up with. Since they are xfactor sites I guess you can let them age on their own. Outsourcing is the way to go and it looks like you have the oDesk thing down. I need to see about hiring a couple of people as well.
.-= Fabian Ramirez´s last blog ..How to upgrade WordPress =-.
Hi Fabian,
I definitely could not have completed 42 sites in 3 weeks if it wasn’t for my writers. I used to struggle with writing 5 articles a day and if I was still writing all my content I would probably barely get 1 site built every other day. lol
